Two Wild Teeth
'Two Wilde Teeth' chews the gray matter, the language outside of language, words that have no body, and a body that is both concrete and abstract simultaneously. Threads of thought and memory are thrown onto the canvas, stretched to the very edge of the dancers on stage.
The new work by choreographer Michael Getman for the Inbal Dance Company is an exception in the landscape. Getman bites into the flesh, touches the spirit, challenges, and provokes with tenderness. 'Two Wild Teeth' is a creation without fear of dazzling or blinding, enticing and drawing you in. Softness in disguise, elegance mixed with roughness, and discomfort evoke a sense of urgency yet plants hope.
Like in life, the choreography creates war and peace within the dancers' bodies and viewers. Like the line that stretches between Beethoven and Gertrude Stein, we move between extremes. 'Two Wild Teeth' does not compete with the popular; it gives it a counterpoint. It has its own frequency, balancing the outside and the inside forces. It is beautiful and biting, and that is enough."
