Panic. Little Score Short
Panic. little score
It's the moment
Which is now
It's the instant
Which is gone
It's the gap
Created between us
It's the gap
Created now
-Yona Wallach-
In this duet, created for the Inbal Dance Company, two protagonists come together and thrust on stage with clapping hands. While Bach's first piano concerto in D minor plays in the background, their clapping welcomes and honors what lies at the basis of our (theirs) human experience. Everything happens as if, in our culture, life cannot be defined. Yet, precisely, it must be ceaselessly articulated, divided, and celebrated with clapping hands, the exhilaration of the body, and the rolling of Wallach's poems on the tongue, pushing the performers to the edge of psychopathology—and to the border of visionary prophecy- a little panic.
Their journey is written as a score attached to a music stand on stage. They follow and experience the signs and signals, leading them through a landscape that transforms into a graveyard filled with words, sounds, and utterances—missed encounters between what is being said and what is, missed encounters that leave the promise of desire, the threat of panic, or the pledge of supreme enjoyment and bliss.
